Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I met this girl around the year 2000
She was astounding, with brown skin, just lounging
Her voice was surrounding and pounding
Everything around, and i love the way she sounded
She would lift me up, (yeah) pick me up when i was down and
We'd ride around town, just vibing to the sounds of life
Innocent, though her livin was trife
I didn't know about her past or why she carried a knife
But i was being humble, didn't ask a lot of questions
I was just a child, didn't know that she was stressin'
Along the way she taught a lot of good lessons
But over time, she was used like concessions
Getting disrespected, it was hella hectic
So much of her was gone i didn't know what was left and
I was straight confessin that i missed all her blessings
She told me i ain't gone; i swear I'll keep you guessing
And to this day i realized she wasn't messin'
I hear her every day, taking away my depression

[Verse 2]
As i grew up, i learned more about her elegance
She was so intelligent and always staying relevant
She ruled my life like the president, and i was just a resident
Always staying hesitant, waiting for some evidence
Cause i could not accept this
Woman of beauty, it wasn't true to me
Cause usually, a clue or two or three would get me past this eulogy
But it was all new to me, L O V E turned over a new leaf
And since that day we never parted ways
I praise god for letting her stay over beats i play
I can hear her say words that reflect my emotions
And drown like the oceans I'm hoping she's growing
Not bragging or boasting to cause some commotion
I'm goin and floating on clouds that she's blowin
The words than she's spoken will never be broken
They're chosen and glowin because they're exploding
With emotion and devotion, out of this world
Your presence always motivates, baby girl
I don't mind that I'm not the only guy that's fine
Cause there are times when I'm crying, i go out of my mind
Sick of backstabbers lying, and people always dyeing
So i sit and write a rhyme and jot down some lines
And then i talk to you, walk it through, now I'm cool because of you

[Verse 3]
After time moves on, you don't hear the same songs
You could hear her go from right on to wrong
But even if she rearrange and changed like the seasons
I couldn't find a reason why i would be leaving
She's keepin it real, but she's faking concepts
Talking about the projects, and how she does it best
But it was just a test, i knew her better that
So i dug down deep just to see what's in tact
And it had an impact on everything i knew
Her underground sounds made it feel brand new
But no one paid attention, and no one ever mentioned
I think it's because nobody had a clue
Of what she's been through, her past lives on
Every time you hear a good beat or a song
When you're all alone and you start to rap along
When you listen to your iPod until the break of dawn
That's her voice telling you not to stop
Cause who I'm talking about ya'll is hip-hop
